Tattoo Aftercare
Proper care is essential for beautiful, long-lasting results.
Your new tattoo is fresh artwork on your body. How you care for it in the first few weeks will significantly impact how it heals and looks for years to come. Follow these guidelines carefully.
First 24 Hours
- Keep the bandage on for 2-4 hours after leaving the studio
- Wash gently with unscented antibacterial soap and lukewarm water
- Pat dry with a clean paper towel (not cloth)
- Apply a thin layer of fragrance-free moisturizer
- Do not re-bandage unless instructed
Days 2-14
- Wash 2-3 times daily with antibacterial soap
- Apply moisturizer 3-4 times daily (we recommend unscented products)
- Avoid submerging in water (baths, pools, hot tubs)
- Avoid direct sunlight and tanning beds
- Avoid tight clothing over the tattoo
- Do not pick, scratch, or peel any scabs
- Avoid swimming and strenuous exercise that causes heavy sweating
Weeks 3+
- Continue gentle washing and moisturizing as needed
- Apply SPF 50+ sunscreen when the tattoo is exposed to sun
- If peeling occurs, resist the urge to pick—let it fall off naturally
- Some color may appear lighter or uneven during healing; this normalizes
- Full healing typically takes 4-6 weeks
Long-Term Care
- Use sunscreen (SPF 30+) on tattoos when spending time outdoors
- Keep skin moisturized to maintain vibrancy
- Avoid excessive sun exposure, which can fade colors over time
- If you notice excessive fading or any concerns, contact us
